Hello and good day, So I will be travelling to Ghana in May and couldn't help but read this amazing experience you've incountered! I hope when am present that I too will experience the same but rural hospitals in Ghana. I will be staying in the Volta Region so hopefully I can find the same exposure. So I am writing a paper on Ghana as an overview of Healthcare and medicine! and was considering a lot of ideas and important information but where exactly could I start a paper with such a broad topic? If you could help me on some main points maybe this will help me get start on my paper.

Respectfully
Kaylea

I enjoyed reading your article about healthcare in Ghana and found it very useful. I'm researching on health issues that are serious in both third world countries and the United States. I am researching this in order to design a clinc that can apply to the US and third world countries. After reading gthis article I believe nutriton is a very serious issue. Do you have any other diseases or medical problems that are serious in the US and in third world countries?

Thank you for taking the time to read the article. I'm not quite sure what your definition of "disabled" means - whether it means incapacitated by disease or handicapped physically. In the places I observed, there were many people who were 'disabled' by malaria in the sense that they had taken time off work or school because they were feeling fatigued. Of course, this is a stretch of the definition 'disabled' but I think it is important to recognize that even though these people - in the long term - weren't hurt by malaria, it still impacted their daily life (when infected) to the point they had to alter their daily habits.
If you are refering to "disabled" in a more chronic context, I did hear (although did not witness myself) about the reluctance to integrate the mentally ill into everyday society. In this respect, Ghana does not have the same respect or acceptance of mentally challenged children as does the USA. I had friends who volunteered at a school that was one-of-a-kind which had taken the initiative to educate these children who faced mental illnesses.
Please let me know if I didn't address your question correctly and I would be glad to reformat my answer until you are happy with a response.

I enjoyed reading your article on healthcare in Ghana. I have been told that there are many disabled people in Ghana and I was wondering if you noticed a particular disease or cause for the many disabled people.
